The below information was sent to news reporters on May 3, 2018. The Charlotte Water crews responded to a sanitary sewer overflow(SSO) found on May 3, 2018 near 13001 General Drive. An estimated 16,000 gallons reached a tributary of Steele Creek in the Catawba River Watershed. The overflow was caused by rocks and other debris. Charlotte Water crews maintain more than 4,200 miles of wastewater pipe. Charges from monthly water bills fund preventative maintenance, emergency response, and the safe daily delivery of more than 82 million gallons of wastewater to five treatment plants, where wastewater is treated to high water quality standards and released back into our waterways.
