Hey Judy,
Per our conversion today, NCDEQ DWR has requested verification that Vulcan's former tenant
Lane Construction Concrete Plant (Lane) was located within Vulcan's Cabarrus Quarry Mine
Permitted Boundaries. Once verification is received, DWR can process Lane's request to
rescind NCG140420 Permit. Once Lane's permit is rescinded, this area can be covered under
Vulcan's current NPDES, Permit No. NCG020172.
Vulcan request a reply confirming that Lane's Plant was within Vulcan's Mine Permitted Area.
I have attached a copy of Vulcan's Mine Permit Map showing Lane's former location. If you
should need any other information, please let me know.

Hey Holliday,
I wanted to followup on the previous email sent 8/8/17, regarding the pond re -inspection. As
you may be aware, Lane Construction has moved off our site a few years ago and they would
like to be released from their NPDES Permit. Vulcan will assume responsibility.
Please advise.

Hey Holliday,

We have completed all the improvements to the Pond, we would like to invite you back out to
view, please let me know your availability for a site visit.
Vulcan wishes to merger this BMP into our current NPDES permit for our mine site. Please
advise on how to proceed.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Thank you,

Thanks for the response Mr. Webb,
We understand that this basin is required to stay in place because the impermeable area is not going to be removed
then re -vegetated. Prior to rescinding this permit, please repair the gulley/eroded area on the inside of the basin wall,
ensure all areas of the basin and the stockpile are well stabilized, then request the permit rescission. We will conduct
another inspection when the repairs are completed and vegetation has been established to assess viability of permit
rescission. Let me know if you have any other questions!

The pond on the back of the site is a Phase II Stormwater BMP that was installed to comply with the City of Concords
development standards. The pond is in place to treat the gravel surface area where the plant was located. The
Quarry intends to keep the plant area as an impervious surface and utilize the area for other mine activities. Per the
stormwater agreement with Concord, this pond is design to remain in place in perpetuity.
The discharge from this BMP flows into a drainage basin that has downstream sampling point for the Quarry's NPDES
stormwater permit.
At this time, there are no activities associated with the operation of a concrete plant.
