Subject: RE Muddy Creek Project - Creek Crossing Plan
Matt,
Please forward the requested information once you meet with Sunbelt I don't see any other issues with this
plan Please combine everything into a single narrative file and forward it to B &V for formal review (an RFI would
probably be the best way to do this) B &V will review and forward to CCUC who will provide email to State requesting
the change to the permit The RFI response will be your authorization to proceed with the revised creek crossing plan
Sue,
Will the aforementioned process satisfy DWR?
Thanks,
Matt

Subject: RE: Muddy Creek Project - Creek Crossing Plan
Matt,
B &V has reviewed the revised creek crossing plan and has the following comments
1 Confirm that Layne will have at least one extra silt bag on site during creek crossing Yes
2 Confirm that Layne will confine construction operations to a 40 -foot width as indicated in Detail E on Drawing D-
03 (bypass pumps and discharge hose can be outside this 40 -foot width) Yes
3 Confirm size of pump. Drawing markup indicates a 10 -inch quiet flow pump and narrative below says 6" or
8" My supplier salesman with Sunbelt Pumps is on vacation this week. I am meeting with him next Monday
7 -27 -15 to confirm what sizes we will actually need and all materials and parts as well to have the bypass
pumps set up like we discussed.
4 Provide stream flow calculations to justify bypass pump size selected Can provide once the site meeting with
Sunbelt Pumps on next Monday 7 -27 -15
5 Provide narrative information on plans for dewatering the coffer dam and trenches during construction Same
as #'s 3 and 4. But my plan is to have the bypass pumps set up pumping from coffer dam and pumping back
into creek down stream of work like discussed. I will have Additional Silt Bags on site as well if we need we
will use. The dewatering of trenches will be done by pumping into silt bag and letting the water discharge
towards the creek or however it is needed to be set up as we progress throughout the project, in making sure
no silt in getting in creeks.
6 Provide narrative information on how concrete encasement of force main will be placed and allowed adequate
time to cure prior to backfilling
When Layne is completing the Creek Crossing, as the pipe is installed all the way across creek. Layne will order
Concrete from our Supplier and have the Concrete Plant add Calcium Fluoride to the Concrete mix, this will
make the concrete set up and cure very fast as well pour the concrete encasement over the new pipe. Layne
has equipment on site to be able to perform this work from either side of the creek with using a concrete
bucket that will be attached to the Excavator boom out over the new installed pipe to pour the concrete
encasement. At that time Layne will have 1 Excavator on both sides of the creek installing the Backfill / Rip
Rap per the plan details and cleaning up areas and restoring all dirt areas and erosion in place.
7 Confirm that this creek crossing revision will not require revisions to the Contract Times and /or Contract Price
Correct, No additional time or additional charges.
Please respond to these comments and provide additional information as requested.
Thanks,
Matt

Subject: Muddy Creek Project - Creek Crossing Plan
Sue,
The attached file is a marked up plan, stating our plan on completing the creek crossing for the Muddy Creek Project
Summary, for work to be complete
Layne is installing 1 complete coffer dam across the entire creek crossing at one time per the construction details and
like we discussed I am going to have a 6" or 8" Bypass Pump System set up with the proper suction and discharge hoses
to handle the water flow of the creeks at the time we plan to start this work I will also have a secondary bypass pump
setup in same location that we can use if the 15` pump malfunctions or problems occur during the bypass pumping of the
creek while work is being completed to cross the creek with the new force main I will also have extra pumps on site for
the worse case of an emergency " mayor rain event" taking place if they are needed I will have all the materials such as
Rip -Rap, Sand Bags, Silt Bags, Pumps, all hoses, force main pipe and fittings to be installed, concrete for encasement on
new force main under creek and Rip -Rap for the restoration of the creek bed/ banks per the construction details/ specs
and like we discussed in our meeting yesterday I will have enough staff on site to complete 1 creek crossing in 1 day, we
will start the crossing at 7 am and will work all day until we have completed the scheduled work per the construction
plans and will complete in 1 day no matter what it takes Also I will be taking pictures next week of the existing
conditions throughout the site and will also be taking pictures daily before and after all work Before any of the above
work starts Layne will have all erosion control measures in place before work starts and will also maintain during the
creek crossings to protect the creek at all times and throughout the site as work takes place I will let you know a day or
so before we plan to actually start this process in completing work in crossing all the creeks as work progresses to the
crossings Let me know if you have any questions
Thanks) Matt
