Dear Mr. Kichefski:
The NC Deparlment of Tra�sportation has identified two small slides on the subject route
adjacent to Wilson Creek {Class: $; Trout, ORW). Wilson Creek is listed as "Wild and
Scenzc" so coordinatian with the Forest Service wiil be required. Both of th.e slides are
located between SR I336 and the Visitor's Center on SR 1328 (see attached map). The
first slide is about 30' long and the second is about 20' long. We plan to repair the areas
by installing large rack on the bank with no fabric due to the steepness on the slides. We
are not propasing to dewater due to site con�traints.
This project was reviewed for the presence of threatened and endangered species and I
attachea a NHP project report as weil. The NLEB is listed as a protected sp�cies in this
county but the project does not fail within 0.25 miies of any red HLJC identified in �e
SL4PES speIled aut in the Nationwide Pezmit Regian:al Conditions. Na trees wi11 be cut.
This project is very limited in scape so we do not anticipate any impact to any federally
listed species. This project is located �rithin a trout watershed. This activity is e�empt
from cultural review but no known cultural resources are adjacent to the repair area
anyway.
The project impacts are not significant in nature and shou�d not remove or degrade
existing water quaJzty uses. By utilizing appropriate BMPs, dowrxstream water quality
standards wi�l be protected. Overall water quality in �e area wili be impraved by
stab�lizing the banks.
