Dear Mr. Wescott:
I am writing in reference to my January 27, 2009 letter requesting a relaxation of the in-water work
moratorium. It has since come to any attention that a recent sonar exanunation revealed possible
subsurface obstructions (most likely stumps) at two bents. Therefore, we wish to clarif} our original
request to include subsurface removal of obstructions if in conflict with the pile driving operation for &.e
remaining bents. In such an event the Contractor will remove the obstruction in a manner that is
commensurate with what has occurred to date including best management practices such as a turbidity
curtain.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at (919) 212-3250 or by cell phone day,
evening, or weekend at (919) 426-3075.
Thank you and I appreciate your continuing partnership on this and all NCDOT Design-Build projects.
Sincerely,
Rodger D. Rochelle
