Citizens Informational Workshop on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School - Parish Hall / Cafeteria located at 315 Hammond Street, Rocky Mount, 27804. NCDOT representatives will be available in an informal setting to answer questions and receive comments regarding the proposed rail crossing closure project. The opportunity to submit written comments or questions will be provided. Interested citizens may attend at any time during the above mentioned hours. Please note: there will be no formal presentation. NCDOT proposes to close the at-grade crossing of Nash / Marigold Street and make improvements in the vicinity of the crossing. Proposed improvements include: the installation of curb and gutter on the east and west sides of the railroad track, extension of the existing brick wall on both sides of the track, and placement of pavement markings indicating the new traffic pattern on Nash / Marigold and Main Streets. Also, the existing railroad gates will be relocated to the West Avenue railroad crossing to improve safety at that crossing. The proposed closure of the Nash / Marigold Street railroad crossing is part of an effort to reduce the number of redundant and/or unsafe rail-highway at-grade crossings statewide. NOTICE OF A CITIZENS INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOP FOR THE PROPOSED CLOSURE OF THE CLARK STREET CSX RAILROAD CROSSING IN ROCKY MOUNT P-4804A Edgecombe County The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold the above Citizens Informational Workshop on Monday, May 11, 2009 between the hours of 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School - Parish Hall / Cafeteria located at 315 Hammond Street, Rocky Mount, 27804. NCDOT representatives will be available in an informal setting to answer questions and receive comments regarding the proposed rail crossing closure project. Norfolk Street would be extended on the south side of the railroad track between Clark Street and Pender Street; and South Street would be extended on the north side of the railroad track from Pender Street to Branch Street, where Clark Street residents would now have to cross at either Pender Street or Branch Street. The street extensions would occur within the existing CSX right-of- way or on CSX property. The proposed closure of the Clark Street railroad crossing is part of an effort to reduce the number of redundant and/or unsafe rail-highway at- grade crossings statewide.
