NOTICE OF A CITIZENS INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOP FOR THE PROPOSED
CLOSURE OF THE NASH STREET / MARIGOLD STREET CSX RAILROAD
CROSSING IN ROCKY MOUNT
P-4804A Nash and Edgecombe Counties
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold the above.
Citizens Informational Workshop on Tuesday, May 5, 2009 between the hours of
5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School - Parish
Hall / Cafeteria located at 315 Hammond Street, Rocky Mount, 27804.
NCDOT representatives will be available in an informal setting to answer
questions and receive comments regarding the proposed rail crossing closure
project. The opportunity to submit written comments or questions will be provided.
Interested citizens may attend at any time during the above mentioned hours. Please
note: there will be no formal presentation.
NCDOT proposes to close the at-grade crossing of Nash / Marigold Street and
make improvements in the vicinity of the crossing. Proposed improvements include:
the installation of curb and gutter on the east and west sides of the railroad track,
extension of the existing brick wall on both sides of the track, and placement of
pavement markings indicating the new traffic pattern on Nash / Marigold and Main
Streets. Also, the existing railroad gates will be relocated to the West Avenue railroad
crossing to improve safety at that crossing. The proposed closure of the Nash /
Marigold Street railroad crossing is part of an effort to reduce the number of
redundant and/or unsafe rail-highway at-grade crossings statewide.
Anyone desiring additional information may contact Marc Hamel,
Environmental & Planning Branch, Rail Division at 1553 Mail Service Center,
Raleigh, NC 27699-1553, phone (919) 733-7245 x 270, or email mhamelna ncdot.gov.
NCDOT will provide auxiliary aids and services under the Americans with
Disabilities Act for disabled persons who wish to participate in this workshop. Anyone
requiring special services should contact Mr. Hamel as early as possible so that
arrangements can be made.
NOTICE OF A CITIZENS INFORMATIONAL WORKSHOP FOR THE PROPOSED
CLOSURE OF THE CLARK STREET CSX RAILROAD
CROSSING IN ROCKY MOUNT
P-4804A
Edgecombe County
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) will hold the above
Citizens Informational Workshop on Monday, May 11, 2009 between the hours of
5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic School - Parish
Hall / Cafeteria located at 315 Hammond Street, Rocky Mount, 27804.

questions and receive comments regarding the proposed rail crossing closure
project. The opportunity to submit written comments or questions will be provided.
Interested citizens may attend at anytime during the above mentioned hours. Please
note: there will be no formal presentation.
NCDOT proposes to close the at-grade CSX railroad crossing at Clark Street
and will provide alternative access for properties located on Clark Street on either
side of the-railroad track. Norfolk Street would be extended on the south side of the
railroad track between Clark Street and Pender Street; and South Street would be
extended on the north side of the railroad track from Pender Street to Branch Street,
where Clark Street residents would now have to cross at either Pender Street or
Branch Street. The street extensions would occur within the existing CSX right-of-
way or on CSX property. The proposed closure of the Clark Street railroad crossing is
part of an effort to reduce the number of redundant and/or unsafe rail-highway at-
grade crossings statewide.
Anyone desiring additional information may contact Marc Hamel,
