Richland Creek (off-site detour planned, assume no improvements).
SUMMARY OF HISTORIC ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPES REVIEW
DESCRIPTIONOFREVIEWACTIVITIES. RESULTS, AND CONCLUSIONS: HPOWeb reviewed on 13 January
2017 and yielded no NR, SL, SS, LD, or DE properties in the Area of Potential Effects (APE). Person
County current GIS mapping, aerial photography, and tax information indicated a wooded APE with a
residential resource dating from the 1980s (viewed 13 January 2017). The APE intersects a large parcel
on which stands a circa-1950 house, approximately 1250 feet SE of the existing bridge and well beyond
likely project impact. Constructed in 1961, Bridge No. 51 is not eligible for the National Register as it is
neither technologically nor aesthetically significant. Google Maps "Street View" confirmed the absence of
critical architectural and landscape resources in the AP� (viewed 13 ]anuary 2017).
No architectural survey is required for the project as currently defined.
WHY THE AVAILABLE INFORMATION PROVIDES A RELIABLE BASIS FOR REASONABLY PREDICTING THAT
THERE ARE NO UNIDENTIFIED SIGNIFICANT HISTORIC ARCHITECTURAL OR LANDSCAPE RESOURCES IN
THEPROJECTAREA: APE extends 350 feet to either side of the existing bridge (E-W) and 100 feet to
either side of the SR 1343 (John Brewer Road) centerline (N-S) to encompass proposed construction
activities. While no comprehensive county architectural survey exists, county GIS/tax materials and other
visuals support the absence of significant architectural and landscape resources in the APE. No National
Register-listed properties are located within the APE or along the proposed off-site detour route.

any improvements to the off-site detour route,
please notifv NCDOT Historic Architecture as additional review mav be necessarv.
