Permit WQ0000020 Asheville Regional Airport, CCP Structural Fills Project Permitting Unit
November 2017 Groundwater Monitoring Sampling and Analysis Results.
Dear Sir or Madam:
Attached are the results from the most recent semi-annual groundwater monitoring sampling
event conducted in November 2017 for the wells near the Area I, III and IV structural fills at the
Asheville Regional Airport. The results from these sampling events are included on the
GW59CCR forms per permit WQ0000020. As these structural fill sampling events are not part of
an NPDES permit, these forms were slightly modified and are not signed.
Area I groundwater monitoring wells and surface water samples were collected on November 1,
2017. Please note DEQ personnel were also on-site to split samples and collect additional
'surface water' samples as part of additional requested work at Area I. The results from these
additional 'surface water' samples are include on the enclosed forms. Area III groundwater
monitoring wells were sampled on November 1 & 2, 2017 and Area IV groundwater monitoring
wells were sampled on November 2, 2017.
Per our letter to Mr. Brett Laverty, NC DENR, dated March 2, 2105, DEP contacted the MSD
Industrial Waste Section and asked that they contact Mr. Laverty such that Mr. Laverty could
retrieve information directly from MSD regarding leachate quantity and quality for Area III and
Area IV leachate discharges. If this arrangement has proved unsuitable, please let Ms. Teresa
Williams know at 828-687-5240.
