Coleen,
I spoke to Ray Kelling at the Chem lab on Friday. He has looked at some of the
Badin Lake data and agrees that running 17 PCB congeners would not suffice for
comparison, since the original data set is for all 209 congeners. As we talked
about, that could cause interpretive problems. Ray is not aware of any other labs
that can perform PCB analysis for all 209 congeners, but suggested checking with
the Lab Certification Unit if necessary. SGS says they can do it within 1 month
(see attached quote), and I can't imagine that we could find any other lab that
could get it done faster. Problem is, we don't have a contract in place with SGS.
I'll forward Sandy Mort's email with budget/contract documents from DHHS that would
hopefully simplify things if EPA were to fund this (see next email). In the event
that this does go through, I'll get on collections asap. Let me know about any
concerns or questions and please keep me posted on any new developments.

Hi. The lab said they would do there best to turn your samples in 2
weeks. If they are able to make the two week turn the price would be
$1400. If we fall short, which is possible, the charge would be $950 as
noted in the attached quote.
