In-stream structures and bank reinforcement measures will be installed concurrently with bank sloping. The contractor will be instructed to limit his areas of disturbance to that amount of ground that can be stabilized with seeding and erosion control matting by the end of each workday. Avoidance and Minimization 1a. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts in designing project. The proposed stabilization work constitutes a positive impact to the ecosystem. The in-stream structures will promote pool formation and increase oxygen input to the creek. Native riparian vegetation (silky willow, silky dogwood, elderberry, doghobble, etc.) will increase shading on the water, reinforce stream banks and help maintain cooler temperatures. Stabilized banks will be less susceptible to erosion, thereby resulting in less fine sediment input to the systems. 1 b. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts through construction techniques. Equipment will be required to work from the banks as much as practicable. Any excess soil generated during earthwork operations will be hauled off-site and disposed out of floodplain areas. The contractor will be required to implement proper construction site best managemnet practices as well as inspect and repair his equipment as needed to prevent any introduction of pollutants to the waters. 2.
