SUBJECT: Project Scoping and Start of Study for TIP Project No. U-5951,
Interchange upgrade at the intersection of US 17 and US 17 Business
in Onslow County, WBS No. 45870.1.1
Dear Scoping Participants,
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Division 3 has started the project
development, environmental, and engineering studies for the subject project. The project is
included in the approved 2018-2027 NCDOT STIP with right-of-way in iiscal year (FY) 2022
and construction in FY 2025.
We would appreciate any information or comments you have that would be helpful in evaluating
potential environmental impacts of the project. If applicable, please identify any permits or
approvals that might be required by your agency. Your comments will be used in the preparation
of a state Minimum Criteria Determination checklist, which will be prepared in accordance with
the North Carolina State Environxnental Policy Act (NCEPA). Please provide your comments by
January 25, 2018, so that your comments can be used in the preparation of this document.
At present, there are no plans to hold a formal project scoping meeting with agency
representatives. If you would like to request additional information and/or arrange a meeting,
please notify the following project representatives:
