NPDES # NC 0087084
Narrative:
During this PAR period (Jan. 1 2017 — Dec. 31 2017,) the following
summarizes the status of each Industrial User, and any changes that have
occurred.
IUP #0007 Bonita Pioneer:
Bonita had several violations for the 1St six months, including Copper, BOD,
Ammonia, and Zinc. Bonita was in SNC for Ammonia for the first six
months for Ammonia. A consent order was entered into on June 1St for
BOD, Ammonia, and Zinc to help them figure out what is causing these
violations. Bonita had violations for Copper and TSS during the second six
months but was able to sample themselves back into compliance. Bonita is
slowly figuring out their pretreatment system and getting back into their
normal parameters.
IUP #0008 American Zinc Products:
AZP is not up and running. The only water they are processing is storm
water. The sample data we receive is not accurate of what they will actually
be sending until they are back to 100% operation. AZP is on monitor only
for all metals and has limits for BOD, TSS, and Ammonia. They will
receive limits when we have valid data to go by. AZP is not expected to be
back into operation until at least January 2019. AZP had a few violations for
Ammonia.
Riverstone WWTP :
Riverstone had one weekly TSS violation in August. There were no other
violations. We have not removed any sludge yet. We are actively looking
for a landfill that could take it with the extremely high metals it has. If/when
we remove it the sludge may be brought back to the Forest City WWTP and
introduced into the headworks. When American Zinc Products starts back
up it could change the efficiency of the plant. I attached the most recent
Hwa submitted in February 2018.
