Andrea,
You can see the riffle cross sections on sheets C101 and C104; however, the bankfull bench is a little hard to pick out at
the drawing scale. To clairfy, UT#1 has a bankfull bench width of 3' on stream left and stream right. UT#2 has an
average floodplain width of 38' with the 14' channel meandering through that width. That leaves an average 12'
bankfull bench for UT#2. These benches show up in the contours of the grading plans for both streams. Let me know if I
can answer any further questions.
Thanks

Can you tell me where in the plans the bankfull bench is depicted? The only cross-section I see is for the ford.

We can pump on that one and work in the dry. Let me know if I can provide additional information.
Thanks.

Justin,
I have reviewed the PCN and plans for the CC Hays Stream Restoration project and I have a few
questions/comments:
• The application states that the "stream is too large to practically pump around". By my rough
estimate, the larger stream has a drainage area of 0.6 sq mi, which seems small enough to easily
pump around. Given the amount of instream work to be done with the large number of structures,
it may be especially important to do this work in the dry.
• We are concerned with the highly dense and regular sequence of instream structures on this
project. They may hinder the stream from self-adjusting, possibly causing instability over time.
• How wide will the planted riparian buffer within the fenced area be, per side? A minimum of 10'
and in some place significantly more.
• What is temporary seed for the riparian area? Rye Grain or Browntop Millet depending on the
season
• Will there be a bankfull bench? Can you provide stream cross-section information in your plan set?
Yes, it is shown in the plans
Thank you,
Andrea
