REGAN Secretary LINDA CULPEPPER Interim Director Subject: Variance Request Approval Crabtree Basin Wastewater System Conveyance Improvements Phase II City of Raleigh - WQCS00002 Dear Ms. Navarrete: The Division of Water Resources (Division) has reviewed the submitted variance request received on February 2, 2018 for the subject project. The Division will grant the variance request for the installation of gravity sewer below the minimum required slope, in accordance with the provisions for alternative design under 15A NCAC 02T.0105(n): 1. Pursuant to the variance request received February 2, 2018 from CJS Conveyance, PLLC on behalf of the City of Raleigh, a variance is granted for the construction and operation of approximately 454 linear feet of 54 -inch gravity sewer between Manholes No. 60A and No. 63 at a slope of -0.026% as indicated on the provided as -built plans and supporting documents, and subject to the following requirements: a. The section of gravity sewer as described above shall be designated as "high- priority sewer" in accordance with 15A NCAC 02T. 0402. b. High-priority sewers shall be inspected by the permittee or its representative at least once every six -months. Regardless of the variance approval, in the event that the wastewater collection facilities fail to perform satisfactorily, including the creation of nuisance conditions, the Permittee shall take immediate corrective action, including those as may be required by this Division, such as the construction of additional or replacement facilities.
