GDM/dh Bamboo Road Quarry Review Comments: Mine Map - No legend to define what the area within bold marking is. te2) If bold marking is permitted area - it does not include: (a) Crusher Area (b) Roads along the south east of the site which were used by former operator These would add to the permitted acreage. VO Present unconsolidated slopes on the south pit area are steeper than a 2:1. As presently shown, these slopes could not be laid back to a 2:1 within permitted boundaries. vf4) No legend exists which defines the 240 L.F. of something along crusher area. Previous permitters claimed that screened fence would present safety problems by limiting sight distance on the state road. A(5) Comments in 4 above would also apply to screened fence noted along Bamboo road on east side of processing area. -/(6) white Pines cannot be planted along the road across from the primary crusher as there is insufficient room between equipment and the road and possible sight distance safety problems may exist. Planimetering the bold outlined areas on the mine map submitted reveals the following acreages: 2.82 acres for shop, processing center and stockpiles 8.52 acres for quarry site. Alsol additional areas are being used which were not outlined. 0.67 acres for primary crusher between quarry are SR 1514. 0.71 acres for access roads south of quarry site shown on the map, but apparently not included for affected area. 0 - 2 - ,f'8) Dewatering point of discharge stated on sheet 2 of 4 of mine map should be marked on the map. ,,,t9) Where did the disturbed area of 58 acres noted on sheet of 1 of mine map come from? V/O' From the application, page 6; #6b, applicant states all slopes to be 3:1. Current slope on the south side of the quarry site cannot be laid back to a 3:1 within the current limits noted if the broad stripe is mine limit. No data has been provided to justify conclusions on ground water statement as directed in #10 page 8. 412) In part 10b, they state they will not dewater while on mine map sheet 2/4. There is a statement they will dewater. Much of water pumped out by previous operation seemed to be surface water; ground water effects could not be determined. Ab In Part D 1 of reclamation plan, operator states he will grade to a stable slope. What is this? See #10 above. Also see item 4a of reclamation plan. The mine map did not include the area of the sediment basin in the affected/permitted area. GDM/dh
