SUBJECT: Project Scoping and Start of Study for TIP Project No. R-2220,
US 64 Widening from I-85 in Davidson County to the Asheboro
Bypass in Randolph County, WBS No. 34394.1.1
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) has started the project development
and environmental analysis studies for the subject project. R-2220 is included in the approved
2018-2027 NCDOT STIP, with right-of-way beginning in fiscal year (FY) 2021 and construction
in FY 2023.
Attached for your review is a scoping information package for the proposed project. We would
appreciate any information or comments you have that would be helpful in the evaluation
potential environmental impacts of the project. If applicable, please identify any permits or
approvals that might be required by your agency. Your comments will be used in the preparation
of a State Environmental Assessment, which will be prepared in accordance with the North
Carolina State Environmental Policy Act (NCSEPA).
A formal project scoping meeting with NCDOT representatives is scheduled for February 20,
2018, at 10:00 am in the Structure Design Conference Room C, NCDOT Century Center,
Building A, 1000 Birch Ridge Dr, Raleigh, NC, 27610. If you cannot attend the meeting, please
forward your comments to the following project representatives by February 19, 2018:
