Hey Matt. A neighboring property owner, TW has complained that he believes Radford
Quarries of Boone is not setting their seismograph properly to record blast data at Bamboo Road
Quarry. He says that Mr. Cecile told him that the seismograph was set up inside a small metal building
during blasts, rather than according to standard recording practices. Tracy has left Mr. voice
message saying that he believes that the blast data submitted to this office for recent blasts does not
evidence any improper positioning of the seismograph and that the alleged setup of the device in a metal
shed would likely produce noticeable differences in the vibration record and in the airblast recording. On
his message, Tracy also told 1W. that he would get WSRO staff to stop by and check to.see where
the seismograph is set up when the monitoring takes place. Could you please get an inspector - whenever
he's in Boone in the near future - to stop by the mine and get 1W. Cecile or another mine representative to
show the inspector where and how the seismograph is set up, in order to provide written assurance in the
file that Rafford Quarries of Boone was required to explain their practices for setting up the
seismograph? Thanks. If you have any questions, or if you want me to talk to the inspector (I dont
know if Brooks is still inspecting in that area), just give me a call.
