Dear Mr. Connell:
As YOU are aware work has started on the renovation of the West Beaufort BAA. The work is
permitted under CAMA Major Permit No. 170-08. During the coarse of the work it was noticed that
additional dredging would be required to prevent tile creation of an area lower than the connecting
waters. Asa result, we are requestinga minor modification to the existing major permitto dredge
an additional 375 cubic yards. The requested additional dredging will be to a depth of -5.0' NLW
and will prevent the creation ofa basin lowerthan the connecting wafters.
Please find enclosed 2 information packets. One packet is for you and or3e is for Daniel
Govo.ni. Each Packet includes Two (2) Plan Sheets No. 1 of 1, and a brief narrative of the requested
modification.

Additional Dredging Narrative

As work progressed on the West Beaufort BAA renovation permitted under
LAMA Permit No. 170-08, it was determined that the completion of the project as
permitted would create an area at the toe of the ramp lower than. the connecting waters,
Additionally, the functionality of the ramp would be reduced. As a result of this
discovery, a new hydrographic survey was completed and the additional dredging
required was calculated to be 375 cubic yards.
The calculation was based on dredging material between the elevation proposed at
the ramp toe of -5,0' below NLW and the -5.0' NLW contour shown on the attached
Sheet Plan 1 of 1. The proposed additional dredge area includes an area the width of the
ramp extending 112.3' on the right side and 71.8' on the left from the toe of the proposed
launch ramps to the existing -5.0' contour. The depth of the dredging proposed would be
a maximum of 4.0' at the toe of the left hand ramp and 1.5' at the toe of the right hand
ramp tapering to nothing at the -5.0' contour.
The requested dredging is in addition to the previously permitted dredging
required for the installation of the ramp. The requested dredging is required to provide a
functional ramp for the loading and unloading of boats and to prevent the creation of an
area lower than the connecting eaters.
