Ammonia Nitrogen source Compliance Cherryville WWTP NPDES Permit No NC0044440 Gaston County, NC This letter is in response to Section A. (5) of our new permit Part 1 states that the permittee shall perform source identification of ammonia nitrogen in the effluent within six months from the effective day of the permit The City of Cherryville does not have any "SIU" significant industrial users in our system and haven't had any since we lost Travis Knits years ago Therefore the Ammonia nitrogen source would be coming from domestic wastewater from homes and small business in our collection system I hope that you find this satisfactory, please contact me at the number below if you have any questions Sincerely, Vv Larry Wright Plant Supervisor/ORC City of Cherryville WWTP 704-435-1739 Permit NCO044440 reporting. Test results shall be reported electronically via eDMR or on DWR Form — DMR -PPA -1 (or on a form approved by the Director) by December 315' of each designated sampling year The report shall be submitted to the following address - NC DEQ / DWR / Central Files, 1617 Mail Service Center, Raleigh, North Carolina 27699-1617. Additional Toxicity Testing Requirements for Municipal Permit Renewal. Please note that Municipal facilities that are subject to the Effluent Pollutant Scan requirements listed above are also subject to additional toxicity testing requirements specified in Federal Regulation 40 CFR 122.210(5) and EPA Municipal Application Form 2A The US EPA requires four (4) toxicity tests ,for a test organism other than the test species currently required in this permit The second species tests should be conducted either quarterly for a 12 -month period prior to submittal of the permit renewal application, or four tests performed at least annually in the four and one half year period prior to the application The second species tests must be multiple concentration (5 concentrations plus the control). These tests shall be performed for acute or chronic toxicity, whichever is specified in this permit. POTWs performing NPDES chronic Cenodaphnia testing should perform chronic Fathead minnow testing POTWs performing NPDES acute Fathead Minnow testing should perform acute Cenodaphnia testing. POTWs performing NPDES chronic Mysid shrimp testing should perforin chronic Silverside Minnow testing. The second species toxicity test results shall be filed with the Aquatic Toxicology Branch at the following address. (5) SCHEDULE OF COMPLIANCE FOR AMMONIA NITROGEN [G.S. 143-215.1(B)] 1. Within six months from the effective day of the permit, the permittee shall perform source identification of ammonia nitrogen in the effluent. 2 Within 1 %2 years from the effective date of the permit, the permittee shall submit to the Division of Water Resources a Corrective Action Plan summarizing the actions to be taken to achieve compliance with ammonia nitrogen and schedule of activities to implement this plan. 3. Within 2 '/2 years from the effective date of the permit, the permittee shall submit a report to the Division summarizing the actions taken in accordance with the corrective action plan. 4 Achieve compliance with Ammonia nitrogen limits (See condition A. (2) ) by May 1, 2020 Upon approval of the Corrective Action Plan by the Division, the report and actions become an enforceable part of this permit Any modifications to the schedule shall be requested to the Division at least ninety (90) days before the deadline Modifications to the schedule in excess of four months will be subject to public notice. A. (6) ELECTRONIC REPORTING OF MONITORING REPORTS [G.S. 143-215.1(b)] Federal regulations require electronic submittal of all discharge monitoring reports (DMRs) and program reports The final NPDES Electronic Reporting Rule was adopted and became effective on December 21, 2015 NOTE.
