The project is located within the Neuse River Basin and has potentially suitable habitat for the dwarf wedgemussel (Alasmidonta heterodon) and yellow lance (Elliptio lanceolate). The site is located upstream of Falls Lake and there are no documented occurrences on the NCNHP data dated April 2017 of either of these species occurring between the project site and Falls Lake. There is potentially suitable habitat for harperella (Ptilimnium nodosum) in Little Ledge Creek. The substrate of Little Ledge Creek, a perennial stream, is mostly sand. According to NCNHP data dated April 2017, the closest known specimen is over 40 miles to.the southeast and was classified as historical. There were' no specimens of-harperella observed during an on-site visit on July 19, 2017. There is potentially suitable habitat for smooth coneflower (Echinacea laevigata) but no specimens are located within 1.0 mile of the site according the NCNHP data dated April, 2017. The closest current specimen is 3 miles to the north. No specimens were found during a site visit on July 19, 2017. 6.. Essential Fish Habitat (Corps Requirement) 6a.
