The Water Quality Permitting Section acknowledges receipt of your application for a new NPDES WW permit, including
supporting documentation and your check number 029076 in the amount of $860.00 as payment of the application fee.
These items were received in our offices on January 16, 2018. Your application will be assigned to a permit writer
within the Section's NPDES WW permitting branch. The permit writer will contact you if additional information is
required to complete evaluation of your application. Your timely and direct response to any such request will help to
expedite the review process. Please note that acceptance of the application does not guarantee a NPDES permit will be
issued for the proposed activity. A permit will only be issued following a complete review of the application, concluding
the proposed discharge is allowable per applicable statutes and rules.

Enclosed are two copies of a NPDES Permit application and Engineering Alternatives Analysis (EAA) for the
Murray L. Nixon Fishery in Edenton, NC. In accordance with your previously emailed instructions, the
enclosures include:
1. A completed application form
2. A check for the application fee of $860.00 made payable to NC DEQ
3. A completed EAA
4. The receiving stream classification is included within the EAA
5. Streamflow data for the receiving stream from Curtis Weaver of the USGS is included within
the EAA
6. A statement is made in the EAA that the receiving stream for the facility is NOT on the 303 (d) list
7. A topographical map of the discharge location, showing the proposed outfall location is included
within the EAA
S. A schematic of the site, showing all proposed wastewater discharges and their paths from the
treatment system to the receiving stream is included within the EAA.

Processing water flows into floor drains and is collected by concrete troughs or PVC pipes. The
floor drains are covered by grates to block large solids. Process wastewater is directed to a
1,500 gallon two chamber septic tank (construction is pending and projected for completion in
the lst Qtr of 2018. Process wastewater strength will be reduced in the septic tank. Solids will
be pumped periodically. Effluent will be directed to the Chowan River at Outfall 001.

required to be maintained under Article 21 or regulations of the Environmental Management Commission
implementing that Article, or who falsifies, tampers with, or knowingly renders inaccurate any recording or
monitoring device or method required to be operated or maintained under Article 21 or regulations of the
Environmental Management Commission implementing that Article, shall be guilty of a misdemeanor punishable
by a fine not to exceed $25,000, or by imprisonment not to exceed six months, or by both (18 U S C Section
1001 provides a punishment by a fine of not more than $25,000 or imprisonment not more than 5 years, or both,
for a similar offense)
