The existing bridge will be replaced while the road is closed (no detour brdige). Drainage from the existing bridge discharges directly into moccasin Creek from the bridge deck. The replacement structure is a single span of 1 @ 70' Cored Slab Unit Bridge with 105 degree skew. Discharge from new bridge is collected in a 2GI drainage inlet at lower (Northwest) end of bridge and outlets into a rip rap pad into grass swale. Drainage on Northwest side of Moccasin Creek drains through approximately 200' of grassed line roadway ditch and then 50' of Grassed Swale before entering buffer zone (total DA is 1.22 AC). Only 50' of Grassed Swale was able to be obtained at this location due topography. Drainage on Southwest side of Moccasin Creek drains through approximately 150' of grass lined roadway ditch and outlets into rip rap dissipator pad and is dispersed into wetlands at non erosive velocities before entering buffer zone. Drainage on Northeast side of Moccasin Creek drains through a rip rapped lined ditch through the buffer and into the creek. Due to the steep topography (4% to 9% slope) on this side it was not possible to provide grass swale treatment (total DA of riprapped lined ditch is 0.3 AC). Drainage on Southeast side of Moccasin Creek drains through rip rapped lined ditch and then outlets into rip rap energy dissipator pad and is dispersed into wetlands at non erosive velocities before entering buffer zone. Erosion control on the project will be designed to sensistive watershed standards.
