The sidepath will be constructed with a 2% maximum cross-slope, which will allow stormwater to sheetflow off the path onto grassed shoulders and fill slopes. There will be no lateral ditches associated with the sidepath. In addition, I am including an alternate design sheet on the north end of the project to reduce costs of retaining walls and right of way acquisition. The Town cannot afford retaining walls and space is limited adjacent to NC 184 on the north end due to residences. An alternate design using an 8-foot wide boardwalk is being investigated from Sta. 11+90 to Sta. 16+30 to reduce costs and avoid impacts to the residences in this area. We are waiting on comments from NCDOT regarding this design. This design will not affect the permit areas in the original permit application. If you have any questions, please advise. You stated in the PCN that the project is covered by NCDOT's NPDES Permit, which is fine but we need information related to how stormwater will be managed for the project. Attached is a spreadsheet DOT uses for that purpose. I'm guessing that existing roadside grass-lined ditches will be utilized to treat stormwater; however, you need to provide a narrative and/or specs to explain what exactly will be done because there is nothing in the application that describes the plan.
