A. PLANTINGS, TEMPORARY AND PERMANENT SEED SHALL EXTEND 20 FT OUTSIDE LTOB AND 15 FT OUTSIDE RTOB AS
SHOWN ON THE PLAN.
B. INSURE THAT ROOTS, ONCE REMOVED FROM POT, ARE STRAIGHTENED AND FACE DOWNWARD.
C. CREATE PLANTING AREA FOR EACH PLANT AND EXCAVATE PIT
D. PLACE PLANTS IN PIT INSURING ROOTS ARE FACING COMPLETELY DOWNWARD
E. HEEL IN SOIL AROUND PLANT AND PROCEED TO NEXT PLANTING LOCATION
F. NEWLY -PLANTED PLANTS NEED TO BE FASTENED TO THE SUBSTRATE FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF NEW ROOTS

CONTAINER STOCK / LIVE STAKES
A. STOCK SHALL HAVE BEEN GROWN IN A CONTAINER LONG ENOUGH FOR THE ROOT SYSTEM TO HAVE DEVELOPED
SUFFICIENTLY TO HOLD ITS SOIL TOGETHER ONCE REMOVED FROM THE CONTAINER.
B. CONTAINER PLANTS WILL NEED TO BE WATERED REGULARLY AND PLACED IN SHADY CONDITIONS UNTIL PLANTING
OCCURS.
C. CUTTINGS SHOULD BE INSTALLED THE SAME DAY THEY ARE CUT. THE STAKE SHOULD BE ORIENTED WITH THE BUDS
POINTED UP, AND THE BOTTOM SHOULD BE CUT AT AN ANGLE FOR EASY INSERTION INTO THE GROUND.
D. ABOUT FOUR-FIFTHS OF THE LENGTH OF THE STAKE SHOULD BE BELOW GROUND AND ANGLED DOWNSTREAM. AN IRON
BAR CAN BE USED TO MAKE A PILOT HOLE TO PREVENT BARK FROM BEING DAMAGED DURING INSTALLATION.

CONSTRUCTION. THIS TOE PROTECTION MEASURE ALSO FACILITATES THE ESTABLISHMENT OF
BANK VEGETATION TO PROMOTE LONG TERM ROOT STRUCTURE AND ROOT DENSITY. PLACE
COIR ROLLS ALONG THE STREAM BANK AS DESIGNED. TIE THE ENDS OF ADJACENT COIR ROLLS
TOGETHER WITH COIR TWINES. 6MM TWINE IS RECOMMENDED. USE EXTRA LOOPS OF COIR
TWINE THROUGH THE OUTER NETTING OF ADJACENT COIR ROLLS.
2. COIR LOGS USED FOR STREAMBANK TOE PROTECTION SHALL BE A MINIMUM OF 12" IN
DIAMETER.
3. EMBED COIR LOGS AT THE BANK TOE SUCH THAT z OF THE COIR LOG IS SUBMERGED BELOW
THE BASE FLOW WSE.
4. WRAP EROSION CONTROL MATTING OVER THE COIR LOG AND SECURE AT THE STREAM BANK
TOE WITH A WOODEN STAKE AND NAIL.
5. WOODEN STAKES (2"X4") WITH A 3-4" NAIL AT THE TOP IS RECOMMENDED FOR COIR ROLL
INSTALLATION. IN GENERAL, 36" LONG WEDGES ARE RECOMMENDED FOR 12" DIAMETER COIR
ROLLS.
6. BEND THE ENDS OF THE FIRST AND THE LAST COIR ROLL TOWARDS THE STREAM BANK AND TIE
THEM INTO THE BANK. THIS AVOIDS WATER GATHERING BEHIND THE COIR ROLLS AND
PREVENTS PULLING THE COIR ROLL OUT.
7. ONCE THE COIR ROLLS ARE INSTALLED PROPERLY, PLANT SUITABLE NATIVE LIVESTAKES AND

WITH THE SPECIFIED SELECT RIFFLE MATERIAL TO THE ELEVATIONS SHOWN ON THE PROPOSED PROFILE.
7. CONSTRUCTED RIFFLE MATERIAL SHALL EXTEND A MINIMUM OF 3.0 FT U/S OF THE P.T. INTO THE GLIDE AND
D/S TO THE P.C.
8. P.T. AND P.C. STATIONS AND ELEVATIONS ARE INCLUDED IN THE PROPOSED PLAN AND PROFILE SHEETS.
