The bridge consists of prestressed precast concrete channels. The bridge is 23'-10" wide out-to-out, and is skewed (Description of Minimization of Water 90 degrees to the road. The proposed bridge is a 45' long single span bridge, 33'-0" wide out-to-out, and utilizes 21" cored slab units. The proposed bridge will incorporate Quality Impacts) sloped abutments with 4.0' caps skewed at 90 degrees to the roadway. In accordance with Tar-Pamlico River Buffer regulations, the proposed bridge does not contain deck drains. There is a high point on the bridge so runoff from the bridge will be split and captured at both ends of the bridge. Runoff from the high point back to the begin bridge end will be captured in a storm drainage system and carried through the buffer and then discharged onto the Class II rip rap from the Rip Rap at Embankment. Runoff from the high point to the end of the bridge will be captured by grated inlets and discharged onto a Class B rip rap outlet pad at -L- 13+04 (LT) outside the buffer. There is a slight increase in the impervious area of the project, however there is no significant increase in the discharge from the roadway runoff. The proposed project utilizes a 2' base ditch to replace an existing ditch through the buffer in the northeast quadrant. The grade on the proposed 2' base ditch was set to reduce the velocity of the water to less than 2 ft/sec as it travels through the buffer.
