GENERAL NOTES
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
THE CITY OF EDEN INTENDS TO MAKE IMMEDIATE REPAIRS TO THE MOST SEVERE AND PROBLEMATIC
SEWERS AND MANHOLES FOUND IN THE DRY CREEK SUB-BASIN. IT CONSISTS OF A COMBINATION OF
REPLACEMENT AND POINT REPAIRS AND RESPONDING TO AND CORRECTING THE SERVICE DEFECTS
GENERAL NOTE:
ALL CONSTRUCTION TO BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH ALL CITY OF EDEN STANDARDS AND SPECIFICATIONS.
ALL SEWER MAINS WITHIN PUBLIC EASEMENTS SHALL BE OWNED, OPERATED & MAINTAINED BY THE
CITY OF EDEN.
CONTRACTOR SHALL VERIFY LOCATION OF ALL EXISTING UTILITIES PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION.
CONTRACTOR WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR DIVERTING FLOW TO NEW SEWERS FROM THE EXISTING SEWER.
SEWERS SHALL BE ABANDONED IN ACCORDANCE WITH SPECIFICATIONS AND DRAWINGS.
EROSION CONTROL:
CONTRACTOR SHALL BE REQUIRED TO MAINTAIN EROSION CONTROL DEVICES AND TO PREVENT
SEDIMENTATION DAMAGE TO ALL ADJACENT PROPERTIES AND STREAMS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
EROSION CONTROL PLANS AND THE CURRENT NORTH CAROLINA EROSION AND SEDIMENTATION MANUAL.
STANDING WATER WITHIN THE PROJECT LIMITS SHOULD BE PREVENTED. ALL DISTURBED AREAS SHALL
BE STABILIZED AND SEEDED AND MULCHED AT THE DIRECTION OF THE ENGINEER.
CONTRACTOR SHALL ONLY DISTURB AN AREA THAT CAN BE STABILIZED THE SAME DAY.
ANY GRADING BEYOND THE LIMITS OF DISTURBANCE SHOWN ON THE PLAN IS A VIOLATION OF THE
NORTH CAROLINA SEDIMENTATION CONTROL ACT, AND IS SUBJECT TO A FINE.
REFER TO SHEET 13 FOR EROSION CONTROL SEQUENCING, SEEDING SCHEDULING, MULCHING RATES &
FERTILIZING RATES.

TRAFFIC CONTROL:
CONTRACTOR SHALL FOLLOW MANUAL OF UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES AND NCDOT GUIDELINES
WHEN PERFORMING ALL WORK WITHIN CITY OF EDEN STREETS AND NCDOT ROADWAYS.

UTILITIES:
CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT NC ONE-CALL AT 1-800-632-4949 FOR UTILITY LOCATIONS PRIOR TO
CONSTRUCTION. CONTRACTOR SHALL ALSO NOTIFY THE CITY OF EDEN ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT OF
IMPENDING WORK.
THE ENGINEER HAS MADE ALL POSSIBLE ATTEMPTS TO LOCATE EXISTING UTILITIES. IT IS THE
CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO FIELD-VERIFY THE LOCATIONS OF ALL UTILITIES PRIOR TO
CONSTRUCTION AND TO NOTE ANY CONFLICTS. ANY DAMAGE TO UTILITIES INCURRED DURING
CONSTRUCTION IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CONTRACTOR AND IS TO BE REPAIRED AT THE
CONTRACTOR'S EXPENSE.
BEFORE BEGINNING CONSTRUCTION, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONTACT EACH OF THE UTILITY OWNERS IN
THE AREA OF CONSTRUCTION RELATIVE TO THEIR UTILITY LOCATIONS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL

Soil amendments
Apply lime and fertilizer according to soil tests, or apply 4000 Ib/acre ground
agricultural limestane and a 1000 Ib/acre 10-10-10 fertilizer.
Mulch
Apply 4,000 Ib/acre grain straw or equivalent cover of another suitable mulching
material. Anchor mulch by tacking with asphalt, roving or netting, or by crimping
with a mulch anchoring tool, A disk with blades set nearly straight can be used as
a mulch anchoring tool.
Maintenance
Refertilize in the second year unless growth is fully adequate. Maybe be mowed
once or twice a year, but mowing is not necessary. Reseed, fertilize, and mulch
damaged areas immediately.
