Inspection Summary:
On 10/31/2017, I (Daniel Boss) conducted a Collection System Inspection for the Town of Hot Springs. I met with Sidney
Harrison (mayor), Vaughn Barnett (Alderman), Greg Hicks (collection system worker), and Jeremy Trantham (collection
system worker).
The town has done an I&I study and is hoping to do an engineering analysis next based on the I&I study. I told them that
repairs need to begin and they could start with small items revealed by the I&I study.
I could not find where the town has set aside money for capital improvement and repairs in their budget. Money needs to be
set aside every year for repairs and capital improvement to prevent future infrastructure failure.
The red bridge pump station has been upgraded recently. It now has a wet well and a metal guide rail for pulling the pump.
The original plans called for two pumps to be installed, but only one pump was installed in the pump station. The town does
have a back up pump ready to install in case the active pump fails.
I suggested to the collection system workers that they document all their repairs with photos. They said that they will look
into buying a camera.
High priority line inspections are being noted by the collection system workers, but the documentation needs to be in a form
understandable to an outside person.
