Brian,
After reviewing the updated figure, this Office will request an updated buffer authorization application be submitted for
documentation purposes. As part of the documentation, you will need to illustrate how stormwater will be captured
and treated to comply with the buffer rules. Please note that the work can proceed as scheduled. If you have any
questions, please feel free to contact me.

Gentlemen,
Please see the attached where we show the building shift 4 ft landward with updated buffer zone coverages under the
Notes, "Proposed Refinement Due to Building Shift" 1. And 2. Above that are the coverages w/o the shift as permitted
through CAMA and DWR. I have copied Peter Warlick and Brian Samick here. Brian is the GC for this job. Please let me
know if you need anything else for being able to complete this project with the shift that will help with new piling
installation. All in all, coverages in the buffer zones are down with this scenario.
Thanks,
Brian

Steve and Anthony,
I understand from Peter Warlick that they are moving forward with the permitted work that received a
EMC variance and CAMA Permit. The latest plan has a note that states, "House may shift up to 4'
landward to avoid pile driving in riprap". The contractor for this is Brian Samick on Ocracoke and the
consensus is that they do want to shift everything that 4' landward due to all of the rock and it being
problematic to set new pilings. This actually reduces buffer and AEC coverages. I just want to make sure
we do not have to do anything else as far as these permits go. Please advise whether we are covered or
if there is any other paperwork you need for this.
We either talked about this before while on site or afterward, but I don't see any documentation and
want to make sure everything is good to go.
Thanks,
Brian
