SUMMARY OF HISTORIC ARCHICTECTURE AND LANDSCAPES REVIEW
Description oireview activities, results, and conclusions:
Review of HPO quad maps, HPO GIS information, historic designations roster, and indexes was
undertaken on October 5, 2016. Based on this review, there are no existing NR, SL, LD, DE, or
SS properties in the Area of Potential Effects, which is 300' from each end of the bridge and 75'
from the centerline each way. A one-story aluminum sided garage sits directly east of Joshua
creek on the north side of Vine Swamp Road; the garage is unremarkable and the one-story
frame house (3800 Vine Swamp Road, 1955) with which it is associated, that sits 350' to the
east, is also unremarkable. There are no other properties over fifty years of age within the APE.
Bridge No. 143 is not eligible for NR listing. There are no National Register listed or eligible
properties and no survey is required. If design plans change, additional review will be required.
Whv the nvailable information provides a reliable basis for reasonablv nredicting that there
are no unidenti�ed signi�cant historic architectural or landsc�cpe resources in the proiect
area:
HPO quad maps and GIS information recording NR, SL, LD, DE, and SS properties for the
Lenoir County survey, Lenoir County GIS/Tax information, and Google Maps are considered
valid for the purposes of determining the likelihood of historic resources being present. There
are no National Register listed or eligible properties within the APE and no survey is required.
