Paul,
The canal currently is bulkheaded on the downstream side of the culvert, while the upstream
side is vegetated. The banks should be returned to pre-construction conditions before the
cofferdams are removed and the canal is returned to full use. There is currently no riprap shown
on the stream banks.
The power lines are being moved as a result of this project. There is one pole that is being
abandoned as part of the project (it is the one located closest to the proposed culvert. The
remainder of poles shifting are to allow the sidewalk to be fully passable after the project is
complete. I've attached the plans I received from the electric utility for your records.

Subject: Columbia Pipe
The USACE rep. called this morning about the project in Columbia. He was concerned
with the streambank impacts from the installation of the culvert and the headwalls. The
culvert width takes up the entire width of the canal, but the width of the headwalls will
go beyond that. How far upstream and downstream will the streambanks be peeled
back for the project? How far down the stream will riprap be placed to stabilize the
disturbed streambanks?
Also, will the OH powerlines be temporarily or permanently moved on the upstream
side? If the alignment is moved, that will need to be authorized under the CAMA
permit.
Thanks,
