The purpose of the proposed project is to replace the deteriorating bridge for the safety of the travelling public
4g. Describe the overall project in detail, including the type of equipment to be used:
Replacement of an existing 105-foot, 25-foot long multi-span bridge with a single span, 130-ft long x 30-ft wide
concrete bridge on SR 2002 (Tobe Bridge Road) in Cleveland County. NCDOT proposes to place a total of 66 feet
of rip rap for bank stabilization under Bridge #31 and along the upstream banks where older concrete abutments
will be removed. A total of 56 feet of temporary impacts will occur due to causeway impacts from ebsting bridge
removal. Areas affected by temporary impacts will be restored to pre-project conditions. The project will be
constructed using typical heavy equipment (trackhoe, backhoe, etc.)

The design engineer has proposed the following to minimized stormwater impacts to the stream
1) 2:1 Side slopes utilized .
2) E�asting/natural outfalls maintained to the extent practicable.
3) NE quad embankment rip rap used to transfer storm water to the creek.
4) All shoulders and side slopes will be vegetated.
5) Grass will be utilized on ditches except on steep stream banks.
6) Pipe outlets on south side tie to stable outfalls.
7) Deck drains in over banks only.
