The Division of Water Resources has reviewed your September 18, 2017 letter requesting
concurrence that extracted groundwater can be routed back to ash basin system for eventual
release through NPDES permitted outfall. The Division concurs that the extracted groundwater
wastestream can be returned to the ash pond system as it is similar in characteristics and likely
originated in the ash basin system itself. Though the volumes indicated are negligible in
comparison to the typical daily system flows you are reminded that compliance with all the
provision of your permit is required.
