Subject: Beau Coast- Gravity Sewer Ext.
Hey Troy,
1
Hope all is well. I am reviewing this application for the 401 Cert. and was checking to see if you could provide a typical
cross-section for the proposed sewer line in relation to the existing wetlands. Also, can you include how the soils will be
handled and separated during the excavation and the replacement process. Attached is an example of what we'll need.
Thanks and hope you have a good weekend,
RM

Dear Mr. Mairs
This letter is in response to your email, dated 09/29/17, requesting additional information for the
NWP 12 PCN for the Beau Coast - Gravity Sewer project in the Beau Coast subdivision (formerly
Beaufort East Village) in Beaufort, Carteret County.
In your email you requested:
• Please provide a typical cross-section for the proposed sewer line in relation to the existing
wetland. Also, please include how the soils will be handled and separated during the excavation
and replacement process in order to address GC 4086 Activity Specific Conditions #7.
As shown in the "Typical Buried Gravity Sewer Main Wetland Crossing Detail", the topsoil and
subsoil will be separated into separate stockpiles, which will be placed on fabric where possible.
The trench will be backfilled with subsoils, and the subsoils will be compacted prior to placing
the topsoil back in the trench.
Please feel free to call if you have questions or require additional information.
Sincerely
