Sullins, Director Division of Water Quality December 16, 2008 Joe Hack Mecklenburg County 700 N Tryon St. Charlotte, NC 28202 Subject: Davie Park Stream Restoration DWQ# 05-0893 Mecklenburg County, NC Dear Mr. Hack: We have reviewed the stream restoration plan for Davie Park. Based on that review, the following information is requested: · Figure 14 was omitted from the submitted plan. Please submit a copy of this figure. · No planting plan or plant list was submitted with the plan. Please provide a list of the proposed planting. No single species should exceed 20% of the total required plants. · Are seals required above and below the proposed constructed riffles? It is our opinion that this removes some of the natural stream dynamics from the system. · There is concern that in those instances were the stream channel is being reconstructed in the old streambed, the use of the geotextile material may interfere with the hyporeic zone. · An aquatic survey should be conducted of the existing stream channel prior to initiation of the restoration project and be included in the monitoring program. Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Alan Johnson or me at (704) 663-1699. Sincerely, ~~bL- Alan D,~~: Env.
