Percussive Activity Description
Grading construction activities commonly use track hoe mounted jackhammer to break up rock
encountered when blasting activities are not permitted or feasible. That is likely to be the case with the
Stouts Siding project due to the proximity of the construction to the existing mainline. If hard rock is
encountered, this type of mechanized activity would likely be utilized. If the rock is more weathered, it
would be broken up by being ripped rather than jackhammered.
