ENTENSION OF CAREY ROAD (S.R. 1571) IN LENOIR COUNTY

The N.C. De,�artment of Trans,�ortation proposes to extend Carey Road (S.R. 1571) as a four-
lane, median-divided, partial control of access facility in Kinston, Lenoir County, North
Carolina.
The meeting will be held at the Global TransPark Center of Excellence at 3800 Highway 58
North, Kinston on Tuesday, October 10 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The project extends from Rouse Road (S.R. 1572) to U.S. 258 in Kinston, Lenoir County. The
project is included in the 2011 City of Kinston Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) and
also identified on the 2007 CTP Highway Map for Kinston. NCDOT has completed preliminary
designs for the project. The new highway is expected to provide a direct link between U.S. 258
and the northern portion of downtown Kinston.
The purpose of this meeting is to inform the public of the project and gather public input. The
preliminary designs will also be available on the project website for public review and comment.
Interested citizens may attend at any time during the above hours. Please note that there will not
be a formal presentation. NCDOT representatives will display maps and be available to answer
questions and receive comments. Comments and information received will be taken into
consideration as work on the project develops. Written comments or questions can also be
submitted at the meeting or by mail or email no later than October 27tn
