NEW HOPE ROAD RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA 27610 919-212-1760 • FAX 919-212-1707 www.environmentalservicesinc.com December 29, 2008 Ms. Cyndi Karoly NCDWQ - 401/Wetlands Unit 2321 Crabtree Blvd., Suite 250 Raleigh, NC 27604 DEC EIR 2 9 2008 DERR - WATER QUALITY WETLANDS AND STORMWATER BRANCH Re: Lakewood Subdivision DWQ Project # 2008-1404 Ms. Karoly: ESI is submitting this additional information for the above referenced project on behalf of the applicant. The information provided below is in response to your letter dated 21 November 2008. Additional information requested in your November 21 letter was provided by ESI in a submittal dated 11 December 2008. 1. Level Spreader Supplement Form Attached you will find revised data forms for the redesigned pond and for the level spreader as provided by Mack Gay Associates, P.A. Please contact Steven Buie at MGA if you have questions regarding this stormwater information (252) 446-3017. Please note on the attached plan sheets that the project has been slightly reconfigured to allow for a revised design of the level spreader located between Lots 5 & 6. In order to reduce the velocity coming into this level spreader, the overall length of the proposed dredged canal has been shortened by 50 feet. This results in a reduction of the "created buffer area" from 1.25 acres down to 0.89 acre. This 0.89 acre of "created buffer" will comprise 0.47 acre of new Zone 1 and 0.42 acre of new Zone 2. The amount of buffer impact resulting from the canal and the wooden, elevated boardwalk within the limits of the 50-foot buffer is 11,968 ft2 in Zone 1 and 14,134 ftz in Zone 2. The project will create 1.5x the amount of buffer affected by the project (0.89 acre). The buffer creation and planting details were previously submitted to DWQ. I trust that this information will allow NCDWQ to continue processing this application. Please contact me if you have additional questions. Sincerely, ENVIRON ENTAL SERVICES, INC.
