Thank you Sue. Scott looked over the design and supplement with design data. Here are NCWRC's notes on the
project and supplemental information:
We have not seen the site, but the plan does seem to be a bit heavy on hard structures. The designer may be largely
basing the approach on empirical formulas, which is certainly a good approach but should be tempered with site
specific need and practicality. The design channel is classified as a B3 and the reference stream a 134c. Bed material
type of 3 is cobble. Is there that much cobble in the channel currently? Or, do they plan on importing a lot of quarry
stone? Another approach/technique would be to construct some reaches with the'RocknRoll' or Jazzy riffles.'. These
features are very typical of B type channels where the velocity vectors bounce around and chute between larger rock
and over coble in stepper channel sections to make up grade.
