REQUEST FOR MORE INFORMATION: STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PLAN
Dear Mr. McBride:
On April 9, 2008, the Division of Water Quality (DWQ) issued a 401 Water Quality Certification to
impact 0.49 acre of wetland and 42 linear feet of perennial stream in order to construct the subject
project in Haywood County. In order to meet the stormwater management plan requirements
associated with General Certification 3705, a stormwater management plan, dated February 27, 2008,
2008, was received by the DWQ on February 29, 2008. A revised stormwater management plan,
dated November 12, 2008, was received by the DWQ on November 19, 2008. The DWQ has
determined that the revised stormwater management plan was incomplete as discussed below.
Additional Information Requested:
The average depth of the proposed wet detention pond is not adequate. Please redesign the
grading of the pond such that the average depth is a minimum of three feet. The side slopes
in the submerged part of the pond (beyond the vegetated shelf) may be as steep as 3:1.
2. Please provide the Required Items Checklist portion of the Wet Detention Basin Supplement
Form, as well as all of the required items. The BMP Supplement Forms are available on the
DWQ web site at: htU2://h2o.enr.state.nc.us/su/b= forms.htm. Please also provide an
original copy of the Design Summary portion of the Wet Detention Basin Supplement Form.
The DWQ will require the above additional information to finalize review of the stormwater
management plan for the subject property. Please provide the following information so that we may
