Widen SR 1545 (Old Airport Road) from US 25 to Mills Gap Road

SUMMARY OF HISTORIC ARCHICTECTURE AND LANDSCAPES REVIEW
Description of review activities, results, and conclusions:
HPO web reviewed 6/23/2016 and an on-site survey on 6/27/2016 confirmed that the project is
adjacent to Calvary Episcopal Church and Rectory (HN1059) which was determined eligible for
the National Register in 1995 and The Meadows (HN0004) which was listed on the National
Register in 1980. After the field review of the properties, I think each property evaluation needs
to be updated. At the church I would recommend omitting the former site of the rectory (now an
Ingles grocery store) and include several markers along the edge of Old Airport Road and at The
Meadows, I think it needs to be confirmed if the historic structure and surrounding acreage
remain intact due to the redevelopment of the site. After that, then we need to coordinate with
NC HPO and the property owners to review the project and ask for their comments.
