Buffer Impacts (for DWR) If project will impact a protected riparian buffer, then complete the chart below. Individually list all buffer impacts below. E. Impact Justification and Mitigation I 1. Avoidance and Minimization 1a. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts in designing the project:* The minimal amount of stream impact is proposed for the road improvements. The culvert will be up-sized, which should reduced the hydraulic constriction posed by the currently undersized culvert in this urban stream. An off- site detour will be used, which reduces the amount of culvert typically needed in order to do phased/staged construction. 1b. Specifically describe measures taken to avoid or minimize the proposed impacts through construction techniques:* BMP erosion controls will be used. Temporary dewatering will be used to avoid excavation in flowing water. 2. Compensatory Mitigation for Impacts to Waters of the U.S. or Waters of the State 2a. Does the project require Compensatory Mitigation for impacts to Waters of the U.S. or Waters of the State? G Yes C' No 2c. If yes, mitigation is required by (check all that apply): DWR rJ Corps 2d.
