The purpose of the project is to improve safety for bicycles and improve traffic flow and control on the existing 2-3
lane urban connector road.

The center turn lane will be extended to the full length of the approximate 1 mile road section. Outside lanes will be
i widened in part to accommodate bicycle traffic. Work will occur with heavy equipment in stages. Erosion controls
including temporary flow bypasses will be used at the stream impact area to avoid excavation in flowing water. An
off-site detour will be used for the stream crossing work.

The minimal amount of stream impact is proposed for the road improvements. The culvert will be up-sized, which
should reduced the hydraulic constriction posed by the currently undersized culvert in this urban stream. An off-
site detour will be used, which reduces the amount of culvert typically needed in order to do phased/staged
construction.

BMP erosion controls will be used. Temporary dewatering will be used to avoid excavation in flowing water.
