Notes, Sketch, etc.:
UT 4 was dry with the exception of some small pools buts was listed as perennial. The main channel was very deeply
gullied and didn't have hydric soils. Immediately above the start of the project the channel was relatively undisturbed
but was marginally jurisdictional with not much function (non-mitigable). Advised that I had major concerns due to the
small watershed of including this drainage in the project. We would have to include unique performance standards to
demonstrate functional uplift beyond simply recreating a jurisdictional channel.
Similar concern with UT 3, and this channel was clearly non -jurisdictional at the bottom. This system should not be
included.
Preservation tributary UT1-1 b was mostly dry but a decent condition stream. OK for 10:1 on this.
Discussed possibility of only doing enhancement on upper 200 feet of UT -1 due to stable, un -incised condition. Another
possibility is reduced credit on this stretch. Below this, restoration appears to be the appropriate approach.
Trib UT -2 did have flow.
Entire watershed was tiled according to landowner but it's not clear that the tiles are working. There is not really
evidence that the tiles are discharging to the streams. No tile outlets were observed. They possible have silted or caved
in. The watershed was also terraced to the extent that it would likely affect the project which is another concern.
Steve K also conducted the JD during the field visit.
