The original permit is NW 13, 23, & 33 and this small addition is below permit thresholds for our General Certifications for this. My only note is that my records show this site as "Perennial" so just make sure they double-check before starting work that it is indeed dry as you say, especially if there are any rains between now and when they do the pipe extension. Let me know if you need anything else. However for safety existing field conditions warrant a longer acceleration lane here for the -SBL- on ramp from SR 1237 Mason-Drewry Road to I-85. This requires that the fill slope be pushed out just a bit so that the slope isn't too steep above this pipe. Therefore we propose to remove the FES, add 16ft of pipe, then install the countersunk rip rap pad. Note this stream is currently dry, so no there would be no additional temporary impacts for dewatering. This slight revision would result in 16ft of additional permanent stream impacts for fill in surface water. Since the project is within the Roanoke River Basin, buffer impacts are not an issue. We don't anticipate a permit modification is required and suggest proceeding with this activity covered by a non- reporting NWP 14 and corresponding WQC. We are providing this information for your records and to request your concurrence. Heather W.
