Re: Mason Inlet Relocation Wetland Mitigation Project
New Hanover County
DWQ # 20000008
Dear Mr. Weaver:
The Division of Water Quality (DWQ) 401 Oversight and Express Review Permitting Unit has reviewed
the mitigation monitoring results for the restored and preserved coastal wetlands at the above-referenced
site. Based on those results and observations made at our 2008 site visit, it appears that the restoration
and preservation activities required under Condition 5 of the 401 Certification have been met and
therefore are released from further monitoring. The long-term protection and management mechanisms
included in the Mitigation Plan identified in the Conditions of the 401 Certification Modification dated
June 27, 2001, or any subsequent Modifications, will remain in effect in perpetuity.
If you have any questions related to our comments or this mitigation project, please feel free to contact
Tammy Hill at (919) 715-9052 or Tammy.L.Hill@ncmai1.net.
Sincerely,
Cyndi B. Karoly, Program Manager
