MAY 1 2 2005 I
The Division of Water Quality has received and reviewed the 2004 Environmental Monitoring Report for the Mayo Steam
Electric Plant, NPDES Permit NC0038,77, in Person County.
36^^3`-7
Environmental Sciences Section staff agree with Progress Energy Company biologists that the chemical and biological
characteristics of Mayo Reservoir are similar to prior years Mayo Reservoir continues to be a low productivity system
dominated by bluegill and largemouth bass The invasive aquatic plant, Hydrnlla, continues to spread throughout the
reservoir It was noted that the numbers given for bluegill and largemouth bass in the appendices don't match up
Bluegill numbered 828 in Appendix 14, 735 in Appendix 17 and 420 in Appendix 19 Largemouth bass numbers were 81
in Appendix 11, 51 in Appendix 19 and 79 in Appendix 19 This was confusing
Sincerely,
Jimmie Overton
