Runoff from the bridge deck drains to the north approach where it is captured inlets and discharged to a rip rap pad. This project creates surface water impacts by adding bank stabilization to Back Creek. Impacts have been minimized by avoiding the use of deck drains, promoting sheet flow and inflitration with grassed shoulders, and providing rip rap bank stabilization where ditches tie into the stream. The removal of existing road fill under the bridge will improve conveyance and reduce velocities in the bridge opening.
