Subject:Re: Hatteras Inlet Connector Channel
Please add a legend or other designation where the SAV is located (pink lines?). We need a little more detail
for our administrative records.

All,
As a follow up to the meeting last week, I am providing two maps that we have developed that provide
additional information on the project. Unfortunately, the staff that were working on the plans for the project
are out of our Boca Raton, FL office and were impacted by the storm on Friday and today. We hope to have
them back up and running tomorrow so that we can provide a finalized set of plan drawings. In the interim, I
have provided a map (Proposed Modified Connector Channel Sept 11 2017_a.pdf) showing the southern area
that was cleared by the cultural resource survey and the proposed channel to be dredged. The color
background imagery is the same color bathymetry shown in the previously provided maps reflecting conditions
on August 21 and 22, 2017. The attached report was submitted this morning to the Department of Natural and
Cultural Resources confirming that the Cultural Resource Investigation Area has been assessed and that in the
opinion of the archeologist no “no-work zones” are required. Also attached is a map (02.pdf) that shows the
location of the proposed south connector channel in relation to the Tideland electric cable and the previously
mapped SAV.

The USACE navigation branch has informed us that they plan to begin work as early as Wednesday Sept
13. At this time, given the information provided previously and the information provided in this email, the
County intends to issue a notice to proceed to the USACE navigation branch to begin maintenance dredging in
the south connector channel. We will provide a final set of updated plans as soon as our folks in Boca Raton
are back online. I will keep you all updated as to the start, status, and completion of dredging.
Kind Regards,
Ken Willson
