We are in receipt of the draft permit NC0004243 in McDowell County for manufacturing facility Coats
American -Sevier Plant. The following comments and permit modification requests are offered regarding
this renewal:
Current monitoring requirements are listed as 3/week, 2/week, weekly, daily, quarterly, and
monthly We request 3/week monitoring be reduced to 2/week (based on production
schedule), and 'ALL' quarterly monitoring be in months of February, May, August, and
November to be consistent with Toxicity monitoring, and this request be worded in the
language of the permit
Currently Coats American -Sevier WWTP is 'pilot -testing' the usage of Ozone within the
wastewater treatment train to determine effectiveness and optimization of its use on our
waste stream. We request permit opener language (operational plan consent) be added to
allow Coats American -Sevier WWTP the opportunity to add, upgrade/retrofit current
WWTP with this technology and treatment consistent with current activated sludge
treatment that is practical and economically achievable for our facility
