It is permitted for an average daily flow of 0.5 MGD; However only 0.3 mgd capacity has been constructed. Average daily flow for the 2016 was 98,583 gpd. Total sludge generation during that period was 104,000 gallons according to monitoring records with an average solids content of 2.5%. At this rate the sludge generation at full capacity of 0.3 mgd is estimated to be 317,700 gallon per year or 26,475 gallons per month Processes The plant process is the Aero -Mod proprietary design; an extended aeration process. There are 3 aeration basins. Aeration basins 1 and 2 have a capacity of 50,000 gpd each; and aeration basin 3 has a capacity of 200,000 gpd for a total capacity of 300,000 gpd. A plant upgrade is currently being planned which consists of a stand alone clarifier and dual UV disinfection channels in series. Settled sludge in the clarifier will be returned to the aeration basins by a Geyser Air -Pulse pump. This type air pump has the capability to regulate the return sludge flow rate for optimum treatment. The discharge of the Geyser Air -Pulse pump will be to a flow splitter box which will provide the capability to waste sludge as needed. Waste sludge will discharge the a 35,000 gal. tank for thickening by settling & decanting; equivalent to 39 days storage. Sludge Treatment Residual sewage sludge shall conform to pathogen reduction requirements in 40 CFR Part 503 regulations for Class B residuals by meeting requirements in 503.32 (b) (3). Specifically, lime treatment in accordance with Appendix B (A) (5) shall be utilized as a Process to Significantly Reduce Pathogens. Requirements for 15A NCAC 02T .1106 (c) (2) (E) are met concurrently. Residual sewage sludge shall conform to vector attraction reduction requirements in 40 CFR Part 503 regulations for Class B residuals by meeting requirements in 503.33 (b) (6). Requirements for 15A NCAC 02T .1107 (a) (6) are met concurrently. Additionally, sewage sludge shall conform to pollutant limits set forth in 503.13 (a) (1 and 2). Sludge Disposal Thickened sludge is tested to determine when it reaches approximately 2% solids content before hauling. Class B residuals are picked up by Lewis Farms and hauled for a land application as referenced in Permit No. WQ0000455. In accordance with Section IV Monitoring and Reporting Requirements of this permit, Lewis Farms is responsible for analyses of corrosivity, ignitability, reactivity, and toxicity characteristic leaching procedure (TCLP) at the frequency specified. Lewis Farms shall maintain these results for a minimum of five years. Attached to this plan is the Operation and Maintenance Plan as submitted by Lewis Farms and Liquid Waste Inc.
