Gap Creek is a brook trout stream, and the moratorium is Oct 15 - April 15; it is important to minimize the loss of sediment from this project in order to protect trout spawning downstream. The area of work is already in the dry, with a dike placed in the stream and flows pumped around the area. We ask that you replace the culvert if at all possible before October 15. However, if the work must proceed within the trout moratorium, we will allow it, providing that you install the culvert in the dry and allow temporary vegetation to grow enough to stabilize the banks and floodplain before turning the flows back through the culvert.
